The MkIII benefited from improved aerodynamics compared to the MkII, resulting in gains in both performance and fuel efficiency. Visually, the introduction of quad headlamps and a bonnet line that extended further down over them gave the car a more modern and aggressive appearance. In the early 1980s the 2.0 Capri was rationalised to one model, the 2.0 S, which simultaneously adopted a mildly modified suspension from the Capri Injection. By 1986 the ‘S’ model became the Laser.

A 1993cc (2.0 litre) ‘S’ model ‘ELE 886Y’ was first registered in the UK on 1st June 1983 and finished in Caspian Blue with Black/ White-striped cloth. The ‘S’ featured here retains the RS – style alloy wheels and is described by the vendor as in ‘good to very good’ condition for the year and also has the factory optioned steel sunroof.

According to the vendor, work carried out over the last four years includes replacing the rear main oil seal, changing the gearbox fluid, and fitting a new starter motor and exhaust. The carburettor and hoses have also been renewed, along with a new interior fan motor. The front seats have been refurbished, the wheels refurbished, and new tyres fitted. In addition, new metal front and rear bumpers have been installed, along with a new blue-tinted windscreen.

In 2018, the car underwent a full respray, during which the front wings, doors and sills were replaced. The body was sandblasted and repaired as required, and it also received a minor service including an oil change kit and a new auxiliary belt, with an invoice on file to support this work.

In current ownership since 2020, some five and a half years, the paperwork on file includes invoices from previous works carried out, MOT history and DVLA correspondence referring to the application for being placed in the Historic tax class. It is also being offered with a current V5C Registration Document.
