We are delighted to offer this exceptional 1990 Ford Fiesta XR2i, a true icon of the hot hatch era from Ford Motor Company, presented here in outstanding condition following an extensive restoration.

Finished in grey with matching grey cloth seats, this example has covered 78,610 miles, which is considered credible and supported by its history file. It has been in the current ownership since 2016, during which time it has undergone a comprehensive restoration and mechanical overhaul.

The restoration was carried out to a high standard, with the vehicle stripped to a bare shell, all corrosion professionally removed and repaired, and the body subsequently refinished. The shell has also been treated with Dinitrol rust protection, ensuring long-term preservation. A new roof and new windscreen have also been fitted.

Mechanically, it has benefitted from significant investment. The engine has been fully overhauled with new pistons, bearing shells and a rebuilt cylinder head including camshaft and seals. The gearbox has been reconditioned, and a new clutch installed. Further works include new suspension components throughout, including shock absorbers, springs, arms and CV joints, with all suspension parts refurbished and painted. It has also had a new petrol tank and fuel pump.

The braking system has been overhauled with new brakes all round and a new master cylinder, while additional works include new fuel lines, radiator and coolant hoses, heater matrix, engine mountings, and a performance exhaust system with four-branch manifold.

The Fiesta sits on five refurbished wheels fitted with new Yokohama tyres, completing what is a very well executed rebuild.

Accompanying the sale is a history folder, containing a collection of invoices, receipts and documentation from both previous and current ownership, detailing the extensive work carried out.

The XR2i represented a major step forward for the Fiesta range, introducing fuel injection, improved handling and more modern styling. Today, examples restored to this level are increasingly hard to find.
