Description

There has always been a market in the automotive world where the owner needed the ability to transport things efficiently. In the early days the answer was a pickup. Well what is a traveling salesman to do in bad weather? Or what if their goods get stolen? The answer, get themselves a business coupe. This became a very popular idea in the 30's and 40's as now these salesmen could stop overnight somewhere and what they were selling would remain safe under lock and key. The way manufacturers accomplished this task was by selling the option to remove or never install the rear seat. Well the very cool 1940 Ford you see here is one of those business coupes and a nice example of one at that. The 40 Ford has great body lines and this car is all solid with no rust issues. It is painted in a nice 2 tone light and dark silver which looks great on it. It has nice trim running down each side and the car still wears its stock style bumpers. The glass on it is good throughout and it has the stock style two piece windshield and split rear window where you will note a very cool third brake light. One very cool feature on the car is the rear fender skirts which are painted to match the darker Silver. They really look great on a car like this. The car sits on nice wheels with V8 hubcaps and are wrapped with wide white Firestone bias ply tires.

You see so many of these get restomodded that it was a delight to see this one is still sporting a Flathead V8 under the hood. The car has been converted to 12 volt so now has a 12 volt starter, alternator, and electric ignition. A new carburetor has been installed along side a fuel regulator to control pressure to it. A very clever upgrade was in addition to installing a new mechanical fuel pump an electric fuel pump was added. So no more cranking on it and pumping the pedal in your future. You flip a switch to the electric to prime the system, fire it up, and then turn it off. The transmission is a 3 speed on the tree and shifts smoothly. It has a nice sound through dual exhaust that exits below the rear bumper. The car runs down the highway smoothly and the current owner has taken it on a 350 mile trip with no problems. It has also been upgraded with front disc brakes.

The interior is done in a nice dark Red cloth and the upholstery looks great. It has a nice bench seat and of course plenty of storage behind it. The dash has a very stock appearance and the original radio works. All of the gauges on it work except for the original odometer. The 2 spoke original leather wrapped steering wheel looks great and a nice vintage touch is the "suicide" or "brodie" knob. The trunk has a lot of extra space for your car show gear and houses a spare with cover.

This is a very cool car that runs great. It is set up to be driven and enjoyed so come hop in and go!
